The special status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea inside Ukraine and the presence of a majority of ethnic Russian citizens in the region are internal challenges that the new government in Ukraine has to face without external governments meddling. The role of the international community has to be supportive, helping Ukraine to stabilise after the last weeks of protests and the recent changes in the government, so rule of law can be enforced and the Ukrainian people can decide their future in democracy during the next elections on May 25th.
