AEGEE at the Welcome Reception for International Students

Every semester, the University of Mannheim organizes a Welcome Reception for International Students. This is an amazing welcome event which includes a presentation as well as a social part with food and drinks. This semester, on 2 September 2016, the big lecture hall in A3 quickly filled up, around 800 young people (of 1000 new international students!) from all over the world had followed the invitation.

Everybody was welcomed wholeheartedly (I wish I had had such a great event during my Erasmus semester abroad …) and the International Office of the university presented their colleagues who are there to help the students in case of questions and difficulties.
After a short glimpse into the university’s history and some surprising facts about Mannheim (did you know that the bicycle was invented here? … and the spaghetti icecream?), the stage was given to us, the students’ organizations with international character. After this unique opportunity to present what we stand for, everybody went to the canteen, to conclude the event in a cozy way.

AEGEE-Mannheim could be found in the canteen entrance hall for more detailed information and for our semester programmes. Also AEGEE members from other antennae passed by and said hello 🙂

All in all, it was an amazing experience and a big challenge – how to present AEGEE with max. 3 slides in only 5 min … 😉
