CD on Track

170302 (2)_L

As part of the CD’s trip to visit most of the antennae of AEGEE last weekly CD-member Tekla Hajdu has visited us in Mannheim and talked with us about AEGEE in general and our development as an antenna. The nice meeting in the N1 lounge was also joined by Mareike, our current Network Commissioner from AEGEE Heidelberg.

The talks mainly focused on three areas: The work of the Comité Directeur in Brussels and the jobs of the different CD members. Tekla could give us valuable insights in the CD’s working procedures, funds, and daily live. Did you know that the CD is not funded by the member’s fees but by European funds? We also talked about financial matters concerning event organisation, which where the second focus that evening...

Workshop about „Civic Education“

AEGEE does not only have local Antennae but has also thematic projects on the European level. Sometimes these seem far away but last Wednesday, 19 October, members got the opportunity to come to know about one of them. Each Working Group creates an activity plan with the goals of the year. Part of it is to give workshops dealing with topics of civic education. The workshop she did with the members of AEGEE-Mannheim ...

Europe on Track in Mannheim

„After an interesting discussion about the European Parliament elections in Aachen, we arrived in Mannheim – the third-largest city in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The uniqueness of this city was obvious from the start as there are no street names and instead letters of the alphabet are used to make the navigation easier. Locals call Mannheim “die Quadratestadt” (city of the squares) because its streets and avenues are laid out to make a grid. “You can never get lost in Mannheim” assured us one of the hosts. “

AEGEE Europe zur aktuellen Krim-Krise

„AEGEE-Europe is concerned about the increasing tension in the Crimean peninsula, and the possible consequences an armed conflict can have for the stability of the region (including the Caucasus). We encourage the Ukrainian government and the Supreme Council of Crimea to find a way to defuse the situation through dialogue and negotiation, avoiding more bloodshed on the Ukrainian territory.
The special status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea inside Ukraine and the presence of a majority of ethnic Russian citizens in the region are internal challenges that the new government in Ukraine has to face without external governments meddling...
